Sweet Magnolias
Sweet Magnolias |
Nearly two times after being left to digest a series of ruinous suspensers, Sweet Magnolias suckers can ultimately rest easy — but not too easy.
The Netflix drama returned for its alternate season on Friday, picking up right where it left off back in May 2020, with Maddie &Co. breathlessly staying for an update on that bus accident. But before the hour was over, the fate of the crash came just one of multitudinous game- changing developments that will shape everyone’s trip this season.
Fortunately, the show’s leading ladies — JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Heather Headley and Brooke Elliott — were further than happy to break down those juicy twists in an interview with TVLine.
Grade the premiere below, also read on for thel stars’ studies on what went down … and what comes next.
SO... WHO WAS IN THE CAR?
Let’s launch with the million- bone question (s) Who was in the bus and what happened coming? The premiere picks up with everyone gathered at the sanitorium, where Kyle is witnessing surgery for serious butnon- life hanging injuries. Nellie was in the bus with him, but her injuries are extensively less severe. And much to Dana Sue and Ronnie’s relief, Annie was n’t in the bus.
Tyler also was n’t in the bus, but that does n’t mean he escapes the premiere unscathed. He hurts himself during a fight with Jackson, performing in an arm injury that will take four to six weeks to heal. Gratuitous to say, he’s furious. Like, cry-himself-to- sleep derangement.
“ We had our propositions” about who was in the bus, “ but I did n’t anticipate all this other drama,” Swisher tells TVLine. “ I feel like we really get into some fights this season. I knew it was going to be a rollercoaster of a season, given all of the rudiments that unfold in that first occasion.”
MADDIE AND CAL REUNITE
Despite being at odds in the finale, Serenity’sNo. 1 couple is back in action by the end of this premiere — and the spectators are n’t the only bones relieved.
“ I was surprised that Cal and Maddie were back together so snappily, but I was pleased for that,” Swisher tells TVLine. “ Maddie kind of overreacted (in the finale), so she should presumably forgive him for that.”
